Jakiya Whitfeld (Bathurst) and Kurt Eather (Dubbo) represented the Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS) at the NSW Regional Academies of Sport Parliament Function on Wednesday 17 October at Sydney Parliament House.

The 2 athletes were acknowledged for their recent sporting success at State and National level.

Kurt has recently returned from the Oceania Cycling Track Championships in Adelaide with 3 medals; gold in the U19 men’s scratch race, gold in the U19 men’s point race and silver in the U19 men’s madison with his NSW team mate.
Kurt now sets his sights on selection to compete at the 2019 Track Cycling World Championships.

Jakiya’s success follows an incredible AON University series debut playing for Sydney University where the 17 year old was selected as player of the tournament.
Jakiya will again pull on the green and gold rugby jersey, but this time she will be making her senior debut for the Australian women’s rugby sevens squad at the upcoming Oceania Championships in Fiji next month.
