WHO WE ARE

The Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS) commenced operation in July 1991 and is a non-profit organisation. WRAS is one of 11 regional academies in NSW that offer support to talented junior athletes.

The WRAS catchment covers a geographical region of 91,522 square kilometres which is one of the largest areas covered by a NSW academy.  The region covers 17 local government areas: Bathurst Regional, Bland, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Dubbo Regional, Forbes, Gilgandra, Hilltops, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western Regional, Narromine, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Weddin.

WRAS is governed by a board consisting of 7 members who are nominated, elected and appointed from within the western region community.  WRAS employs an Executive Officer, a Sports Program Manager, an Office Manager and is supported by volunteers.

Our vision is to be the leader in regional sports development. The Academy’s mission is to enhance and provide opportunities for aspiring regional athletes, coaches, and officials on the pathway to sporting success.
