WRAS athletes and squad staff from the Central West have returned from the Hunter region following a full weekend of competition at the Your Local Club Academy Games, held Friday 12 to Sunday 14 April.
All WRAS squads excelled and earned some great results across our 5 sports; AFL, Basketball, Hockey, Netball and Tennis.
Results overview-
AFL (WRAS combined with Western Sydney Academy of Sport)
- Placed 4th overall with 2 wins and 1 loss
Basketball:
- Boys were undefeated on day 1 and topped their pool. Lost the semifinal game on day 2 in a nail biting battle with North Coast Academy of Sport.
- Girls finished 2nd overall in their pool with 2 wins and a loss. They went down in the quarter and semifinals to North Coast and Hunter respectively.
Hockey:
- Boys finished 2nd They made the grand final but unfortunately went down to Hunter 2-0.
- Girls A finished 2nd Also making it through to the grand final but going down 4-0 to Sydney Metropolitan.
- Girls B finished 4th
- Tom Luchetti (Lithgow) was named WRAS boys MVP.
- Charlotte Heath (Orange) and Bridget Ellis (Bathurst) were named the WRAS girls MVP.
Netball:
- Division 1 came away with 4 wins and 4 losses
- Division 2 came away with 1 win and 7 losses
- Isabella Attwater (Narromine) was named WRAS MVP Division 1
- Georgia Cornish (Lidster) was named WRAS MVP Division 2
Tennis:
- Tayla Brasier (Bathurst) had an amazing weekend taking out the competition. She won her first game 6-2 6-1, second game 6-2, 6-0 and the final 7-5 7-5.
