WRAS Board Vacancy

The Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS) commenced operation in 1991 and is a non-profit organisation. WRAS is one of 11 regional academies in NSW providing support to talented pre-elite athletes across a wide range of sports.

WRAS catchment covers a geographical region of 91,522 square kilometres and encompasses 17 local government areas: Bathurst Region, Bland, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Dubbo Region, Forbes, Gilgandra, Hilltops, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western Region, Narromine, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Weddin.

WRAS is governed by a strategic board consisting of 7 members. The board is currently seeking to fill a casual vacancy. Meetings are held bi-monthly, usually in Bathurst or Orange, but occasionally in other regional centres.

Based on the skill sets of our incumbent board members, experience in marketing, communications or public relations are considered highly desirable for this role. Formal governance training or qualifications from a recognised professional institute (such as the AICD) are preferred, but not essential. Please note this is a voluntary position.
