The Western Region Academy of Sport is having a training weekend for their basketball squad athletes on the 8 and 9 of December. The camp will be held at the Bathurst Basketball Stadium where athletes from all over the western region will take part in a variety of activities and training sessions to further enhance their basketball skills. The athletes will be involved in some rigorous training sessions and activities as they aim to develop and increase their range of skills on the basketball court. Head Coach, Katrina Ferris, said “This is a great opportunity for our athletes to learn and improve their skills, interact as a team and to challenge themselves, but most importantly to enjoy the experience”. The squad consists of some of the most talented, young, up and coming basketball stars of the future featuring Bathurst’s own Jesse Fergusson, Meredith Jones, Laurence Mifsud, Freya Roebuck and Connor Sherlock and Lithgow trio Romy Casey, Sophie Murray and Elliot Smith. The weekend will focus on improving court performance and the refinement of skills such as defending and sinking those free throws!
