2007 S&C program wins award!
Posted by Flick in Latest News on December 11th, 2007
The 2008 Strength and Conditioning program is now well underway with many athletes starting their program, and many more to meet with the S&C interns over the next week during the first ‘S&C Road Trip’.
The new interns, Nathan and Ash, have a lot to live up to with the previous year’s S&C program being recognised for its success and innovation in a ceremony held at Telstra Stadium several weeks ago. The NSW Sports Safety Awards (an initiative of the NSW Sporting Injuries Committee) awarded the 2007 S&C program with the silver medal in the regional category of ‘outstanding education and promotion project in the field of sporting injury prevention and reduction’.
Congratulations and thanks go to Dr Stephen Bird and the School of Movement Studies and 2007 S&C interns Ryan Drew and Geoff Minett for their hard work.
Congratulations also go to the Northern Inland Academy of Sport who won the Bronze award in the same category for their RACE program.
2007 Presentation went off with a *bang*

Our 2007 ‘Country and Western’ Annual Presentation evening for graduating athletes went off with a bang- literally (thanks to those rogue balloons)….
The biggest ever congratulations to our 2007 WRAS Hall of Fame inductee Kurt Fernley, who we heard was about to compete in the New York City Marathon. And guess what- HE WON! What a top year for Kurt winning 10 out of his 11 marathon starts.
A big congratulations also go to our 2007 Athlete of the Year – Jade, and Runner-up – Nick.
We’d love to know what some of our athletes thought of the night and your bull ride- leave a comment!
