Aims and eligibility
The primary aim of the 2017 WRAS High Performance squad is to provide an additional opportunity to select graduate athletes who have competed at state, national or international level, to allow them to continue to progress successfully to the next level of representation. Invited athletes are encouraged to apply for a scholarship. The final selections process will include an interview and athletes should be aware that development will be a duel responsibility – between themselves and WRAS. Athlete’s objectives will be set and monitored. Both the athlete and WRAS High Performance Co-ordination work together and communicate regularly to ensure outcomes are achieved.
Still competing at a junior level as determined by relevant State Sporting Organisation (SSO)
High Performance scholarships will be individually tailored to meet the athlete’s needs. Athletes are required to attend all designated activities and events. The events calendar is designed to avoid clashes with athlete events.
The program will run from September 2016 to August 2017
Nomination is by invitation only. The selection panel will comprise the Academy staff and a representative of the board. Athletes must have previously been selected to represent their sport at state level or above, and live or attend school in the western region.
