Running for a cause!

WRAS hockey graduate, Sarah Melhuish (2007-2009) – Parkes – is one of a team of runners on the road this week, raising money for Muscular Dystrophy.

Sarah’s brother, Michael, was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of three and he and his mate, Hamish Orr, decided that they would organise a run from Parkes to Parramatta, to raise much needed funds.

Having left Parkes at the weekend, they have travelled to and had overnight stays at Manildra, Orange and Bathurst.  They left Kings Parade, Bathurst at 7am Tuesday and arrived at lithgow Lithgow.  Then it’s the tough course over the mountains, with the goal of arriving in Parramatta on Saturday – just in time to witness the Eels v the St George Illawarra Dragons clash at Pirtek Stadium.

Since Saturday they have raised close to $14,000 – already surpassing their goal of $15,249. To make a donation go to their Web Page, Donations are Tax Deductible.
