Commencing in late 2015 and continuing until mid 2016, WRAS is offering Individual Scholarships for lone star athletes and para-sports athletes in various sports.
A co-ordinator is appointed to manage these programs. Scholarships are not in the form of a monetary sum. They are individually tailored to support athletes who are living in the Western Region – by providing services in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, Physical Testing and Athlete Personal Development (time management, media skills, goal setting, nutrition, etc).
Lone Star Scholarships – are tailored for athletes who are ineligible for WRAS squad programs (ie. there is no squad in their sport or they are outside of the relevant age group). It is expected that athletes would be at least at NSW representative level in their sport. Athletes must be aged at least 14 years of age at 1 January 2014. These scholarships are designed to assist pre-elite youth athletes in any sport, who are living or attending school in the western region.
Paralympic Scholarships – are tailored for athletes who regularly compete at state and national events and who are aspiring to represent NSW and Australia in Para-sports competition in their chosen sport.
Megan Callinan Scholarships (7 only available) – 7 Scholarships are available in the targeted local government areas of Boorowa, Cabonne, Forbes, Gilgandra, Oberon, Weddin and Wellington shires.
Nominations close Thursday 8 October
