2008 Rookie Camps

The WRAS Rookie Camps are over again for another year and WRAS has been blown away with the sporting talent throughout the western region. The Lawn Bowls camp kicked off the big week on Sunday 6 July with 51 athletes and coaches attending including 5 athletes from the Far West Academy of Sport and 11 from the NSW Institute of Sport Silver Tier squad. The Hockey rookies arrived on Monday 7 July for their two and a half day live in camp and trained at the Bathurst Hockey Centre. The Basketball camp was headed by Ex-AIS and Australian University Team coach Debbie Cook and held at CSU on 9-11 July. The Netball and Triathlon Rookie camps concluded the week with 53 and 25 people (respectively) in attendance over the weekend of the 11-13 July. All athletes who attended the camps stayed on campus of CSU, had two full days training with some of NSW best coaches and had physical testing completed by the School of Human Movement Studies Testing and Sports Science team.

A special thanks to all the camp staff (John, Ross, Deb, Bob, Wally, Michelle, Beth, Jason, Thomas, Debbie, Deidrie, Sharon, Nancy, Cate, Tracy, Trish W, Trish M, Tegan, Robyn, Nicole, Kim, Nick K, Nicholas K, Nick N, Jody and Ronda) who gave up their time to attend the camps, we could not have done it without you! Thanks also to Professional Practice students Tamara Cavanagh and Sam Gaal who did a spectacular job assisting with the coordination of all camps.
